Rémy Martin Announces New Sustainability Initiatives
Fine Champagne Cognac specialist Rémy Martin announced today new sustainability initiatives, covering consumption, production and packaging, aimed at environmental protection.
One of the packaging-related initiatives announced today is the discontinuation in several countries of gift boxes for certain products in the on-trade and off-trade network. The company has already stopped using VSOP boxes in some countries, and is now extending this practice to other bottles, including 1738, Club and XO.
Rémy Martin also announced that it is developing an eco-design rating system that it will apply to evaluate each of its products. The rating process will consider four lifecycle criteria, including CO2, resource exhaustion, water resource exhaustion and water ecotoxicity.
Commenting on the company’s environmental initiatives, Philippe Farnier, CEO of the House of Rémy Martin said:
“We are convinced that our fight ensures sustainable protection of the soil, the environment and our savoir-faire: it is ambitious, collective and respectful of the Charente region. We will continue to foster excellence and pass on our heritage, striving towards new challenges by taking action from the soil to the bottle.”
