KLA Targets 100% Renewable Electricity to Power Global Operations by 2030
Global semiconductor equipment and services company KLA Corporation announced today a new target to use 100% renewable electricity across its global operations by 2030.
According to KLA, the new target will help set the company on a path to achieve a 46% reduction in combined Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, from a 2019 baseline. KLA’s goal also builds on the company’s renewables achievements to date, including purchasing 100% of its electricity from carbon-free sources for its Milpitas headquarters, contracting 100% green energy for its Belgium office and installing solar roof panels, and purchasing 97% carbon-free electricity at its Welsh site.
Rick Wallace, President and Chief Executive Officer of KLA, said:
“Understanding that our planet requires responsible stewardship, KLA is stepping up to meet an ambitious goal of 100% renewable electricity across our global operations. We are committed to doing our part in ensuring smart and sustainable production of chips into the future by reducing resource use and emissions in our own operations.”
