Just a suggestion — I would be interested in knowing what the scope 3 emissions targets consist of. Is 100% of those scope 3 emissions from Financed emissions? Are there any other relevant scope 3 categories for Nasdaq? The answer to these questions might well be in their CDP, TCFD, or sustainability report but would be nice to have read it here!

Comment on EU Proposes Rules Requiring All New Buildings to be Zero Emission by 2030 by Matthew Conlon https://www.esgtoday.com/eu-proposes-rules-requiring-all-new-buildings-to-be-zero-emission-by-2030/#comment-18501 Fri, 04 Nov 2022 15:53:12 +0000 https://www.esgtoday.com/?p=10684#comment-18501 In reply to MOHAMMED. SAGHIR.

And exactly how will this save the planet if the only thing it does is move the location of the fossil fuel burning to another location, not at the building? And in terms of energy efficiency, what makes more sense? burn natural gas at the building to heat it, or burn it in a power plant miles away, then encounter the efficiency losses in that boiler at the point where you make steam to spin a turbine, then the losses in the turbine itself, then all the line losses along the transmission lines to your new building?

Pathetic , what else to say.!!

Alongwith, it is a sadening aspects that, the fossil fuel supporters, under the guise of energy security and development, are still spending billions, for the industry and expansion.

The statistics I have seen show the EU consumed 2865 TWH in 2021. Some 1067 TWH, or 37% of electric production came from coal, oil, natural gas and other fossil fuels. So yes, theoretically they will be “green buildings” as they will not burn this onsite, but it still has to come from plants burning fossil fuels. Sounds like a case of “not in my backyard”.
